The COVID-19 pandemic is predicted to continue rising, even before the new president-elect Joe Biden takes office in January 2021. Since November, the number of coronavirus cases has exceeded 10 million infections and over 230,000 deaths in the U.S. Recently, the country reached an all-time high of 100,000 new cases every day. By the end of 2020, doctors predict 1 million new infections every week, meaning that the pandemic is not showing any signs of slowing down.

A Bleak Outlook for 2021

According to new predictions, the 2020 pandemic will wreak havoc well into 2021. The need for hospitalizations and medical treatments will rise and drain the medical resources at hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, pharmacies and medical laboratories.

Biden has created a coronavirus task force that consists mainly of qualified physicians. His team plans to address the growing epidemic and work on expanding the shortages of vital medical supplies. They plan to discuss public concerns about testing and vaccines. He plans to pass a stimulus plan through Congress that will provide relief to individuals, small businesses and medical facilities.

Biden’s Delayed Plan

As infection cases soar, Biden’s plan must wait another two and a half months until after he takes office. Meanwhile, many people are spending their holidays stuck indoors, worried about how the pandemic will worsen. A CDC emergency response official and many other healthcare providers have predicted thousands more deaths during the holiday season.

Rises in Hospitalizations and Deaths

Some states are showing decreases in hospitalizations; however, the number of COVID-related hospitalizations nationwide has increased to 56,000 since last month. Many hospitals are dealing with shortages of ICU beds, ventilators and personal protective equipment.

Some healthcare providers have compared the hundreds of deaths per day to fatal plane crashes. They predict that the number of “plane crashes” will occur every day and increase in the future. Over 350,000 Americans will die by the time Biden officially becomes president, according to the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, in addition to the existing 230,000 deaths.

Several political leaders have alleged that the coronavirus is a problem that will disappear soon. The results are shown in contrast. As the winter season arrives, COVID-19 cases are increasing and spreading all over the nation. Some people predict that the virus will slow down in a few months while others think it will take another year. Nevertheless, it’s important for everyone to understand the reality of this health crisis.
