The Turkish Prime Minister of Finance Berat Albayrak has made an official announcement that he plans to resign from his current position. What could cause such a drastic shift in lifestyle and career for this well known government figure in Turkey? He has stated that the reasons for his departure from this position are related to his health. He has not provided further details regarding the matter and it is not assumed that he will disclose these details considering the health is such a personal subject. Interviewers and the press are reluctant to pry on such an intimate matter. Albayrak has utilized a social media platform in order to announce his intentions to resign from his current position. He has stated this declaration on the mobile device-oriented social media platform Instagram.

 Albayrak’s Experience within the Turkey Government

Albayrak had formerly served as energy minister before being elevated to his current, and now former, role as the nationa’s Prime Minister. His role as energy minister began in 2015 and lasted until the year 2018 when he shifted to a finance role.

 Turkey Experiences Difficulties

Turkey is, as a government, experiencing difficulties as of recent. The resignation of Albayrak has come only shortly after the nation’s central bank chief was removed from office. Additionally, the Turkish currency is markedly decreasing in value. In particular, the Turkish Iira has dropped by thirty percent throughout the year 2020. The country’s Forex reserves are lowering, as well.

 Albayrak’s Family Connections

Albayrak is the son in law of Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan. His father in law has recently removed the former central bank chief and allowed a foreign minister to take his place.

The former Prime Minister has noted that this move will allow him to spend more time with his family. Even after his resignation from his position as Prime Minister, Albayrak will have been responsible for many successes within the Turkish government. During his role as Prime Minister he helped the nation’s economy to recover from economic difficulties that were prevalent in 2018. At the age of forty two, he will in the year 2020 have been responsible for many positive occurrences for his country.

It is notable that the resignation of any Prime Minister in Turkey requires approval by the President and this particular public figure has not always accepted every offer for resignation presented to him. Namely, in the case of the Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, the President of Turkey openly refused his resignation. Because of this, Soylu is still serving as the Interior Minister as of this very day.

Prior to this Prime Minister’s initiation, there was a lowered level of activity in the economy. Upon becoming Prime Minister, the Turkish economy saw a boom and the level of the Iira incrased. During most of the time that this Prime Minister served his country, the value of its currently went up. However, in the recent months the Iira has seen a lowering of value.
