People often look at entrepreneurs and envy them. However, many people do not know that business owners have struggled a lot in their personal lives. Amy Upchurch is the founder of Pink Stork. Her difficult pregnancy is what prompted her to start her own business.
Amy had severe morning sickness when she was pregnant with her fourth child. She suffered from a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. It only affects about one to three percent of pregnant women, but it can be life-threatening. Amy would sometimes throw up 30 or 40 times a day.
Amy had severe morning sickness with all of her pregnancies, and she knew something had to change. She said that she could no longer deal with this. She decided to research natural products to find what she could do to alleviate her sickness.
A Motivation to Help Other Women
Amy stated that her heart aches for women who have had to deal with severe morning sickness. That was why she decided to start Pink Stork, which has been around since 2015. She not only provides products to her customers, but she supports them in whatever way that she can. She celebrates birthdays with the women and also takes prayer requests.
Amy is now the mother of five children. She also has 50 people working for her company. They consider themselves a community and strive to help each other in whatever way that they can.
Amy Has Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Amy stated that if any woman wants to start her business, then they will need to realize that a challenge can sometimes be a calling. She said that she does not consider herself special in any way. However, she has learned to embrace challenges and encourages other people to do the same.
Amy said that she trusts in God and has perseverance. She hopes that she can inspire other women to be optimistic about the future. She knows that the process can sometimes be painful. However, she wants people to know that you are going to get through your struggles.
