Remote Workers Are Burnt Out

Adrian Lewis is the director of a company called Activ Absence. He has talked to people about the stress in the workplace. It is also important to note that even if a person is working remotely, they may still be dealing with a lot of stress. According to the Stress Management study, 65 percent of workers stated that they were more stressed now than they were before the pandemic started.

Adrian stated that it is clear that the Covid 19 pandemic has taken a toll on people’s mental health. People who are working remotely face unique challenges. Many of them are balancing working with home schooling their children. They may also be working longer hours than they would if they were in an office. Furthermore, many of them have not been able to get a break since the pandemic started.

What Employers Can Do to Help With This

Employers may not always be able to tell when their employees are stressed out, depressed or anxious. It can be even harder to tell when an employee is having mental health issues if they are working remotely. However, many employees have had to take leave because of the symptoms that they have been experiencing. Adrian recommends that employers do the following to help their employees.

  • Encourage your workers to have open conversations about mental health and the way that they are feeling
  • Have virtual meetings every week so that you can check in with your employees
  • Train your managers on how to recognize signs of depression and anxiety.
  • Have interviews with your employees when they come back after taking a sick day.
  • Let your employees know about mental health services that are available.

How Workers Can Manage Their Own Stress

There are also a lot of things that remote workers can do in order to keep their own stress levels down.

  • Create a routine and set boundaries
  • Talk to your boss if you are feeling overwhelmed.
  • Take breaks from work when you need them.
  • Make time to interact with other people.
