Employee health is a concern for many business owners. One of the best ways to make sure your employees proactively focus on their wellness is to set up a wellness program at work. If you’re interested in creating a wellness program for your workers but don’t know where to start, here’s a list of ideas worth trying.

 Stock healthy vending machine options.

Everyone doesn’t naturally make healthy snack choices. Going to the work vending machine only to find chips and candy bars can make it difficult to maintain a nutritious diet. By adding healthier alternatives, you make it easier for your employees to make healthier choices. Occasionally, you can have a healthy potluck or create a snack rotation among your employees.

 Organize family fitness nights.

Why limit your reach to your employees? By organizing fitness events for employees and their families, they have healthy workouts they can take home and do together. Once your employees’ family members attend workout sessions with you, they can also hold each other accountable and help each other stay in shape.

 Offer mental health solutions.

Mental fitness is just as beneficial as physically working out. In fact, you can work out everyday and break down if you’re mentally off balance. Since you want your staff to be on point and focused during work, you should offer beneficial solutions for their mental health.

This can be taking fifteen minutes of guided meditation after a stressful task or occasional deep breathing virtual courses. If you or your staff know of any free workshops, you can create an email list and send sources to each other to explore in your spare time.

 Have walking meetings.

Remember that scene where Hannibal Lecter gave his insight on a case as he walked around the fitness track with Will? While this is an extreme example, having a walk and talk meeting can help staff with their fitness goals. This is also a great way to refresh after a long day of sitting in a cubicle. When you schedule a walking meeting, notify your employees so they can bring their step counters.

When your employees believe you genuinely care about their physical and mental well being, it boost productivity of your work environment. Also consider coming up with fitness goal incentives to keep everyone in the best shape possible.
