When it comes to creating a positive culture at the workplace, it is the responsibility of everyone from the CEO to sales representatives. The last two years have presented businesses with the challenge of creating and maintaining a positive company culture during remote work and Zoom meetings.

The Impact of Remote Work

It is no surprise that the impact of COVID-19 has been far-reaching in all aspects of business, including revenue and employee performance. Many companies had to adjust their entire work model to accommodate legal mandates and the safety of their employees and consumers. Managers would normally celebrate birthdays and achievements, bring in public speakers, or hold a company party, but these options aren’t quite as feasible when everyone is working from home.

Creating Culture During a Pandemic

Thankfully successful cultures have already prepared their employees to embrace all kinds of change. After all, culture isn’t tangible and it exists outside of those four walls. Many businesses have added virtual seminars, messaging services such as Slack, and Zoom meetings to their agenda. If anything, this adjustment has created an increase in communication and positive culture!

Employees Impact on Revenue

While the success of many businesses did take a hit initially during the beginning stages of the pandemic, many have adjusted their work methods and even work ethic to accommodate these needs. In fact, many companies have extended work-from-home positions and other new accommodations to their employees beyond the pandemic. The reason being that employees performed better in these circumstances which were tailored to their individual needs. In particular, businesses within the technology, communications, finance and healthcare fields thrived during the pandemic seeing an increase in revenue by at an average of 100% with some even seeing an increase of over 1000%!

The argument of cause and effect could be applied to this new culture we see emerging in the workplace. Which aspect is truly impacting this shift in success. Is it the demand for certain services or the culture? Employees are arguably happier with the ability to work in a way that suits them. There is also more unification of purpose and increased communication from the bottom up. Whatever the cause may be, businesses worldwide are adopting new cultures and adapting to this new normal.
