From the day a company gets incorporated, company culture starts to build from the founder’s vision. Company culture is what differentiates them from the rest of the packs in the industry. It’s pretty evident when you come across a company that has a strong company culture. You will not be surprised by how they carry themselves and the language they use while addressing each other. Company culture dictates mannerism and other inter-relationship behavior while within the company settings.

It’s important to note that company culture can sometimes be retrogressive or negative while other cultures are positive and progressive. A company culture that is discriminative of one color of gender or any other form is retrogressive, and it’s a bad precedence. Culture dictates how much it attracts and retains talents that are the fuel for a business. If you happen to come across a company with deficient retention levels, the problem most likely is the culture they have adopted. Positive company culture should inspire confidence in the company and appeal to talents in the industry to join such a company.

Amazon is one of the most successful brands of our generation. Though the company does not have a culture meant to appeal to everyone, it has one of the most distinct company cultures ever. Despite being one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the world, the company takes the frugality of the situation and takes it to the very extreme. They have a mantra that their Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos echoes: they take every opportunity to the margins. Despite Amazon not being as good as the other tech giants in that space regarding the perks they pay their employees, they value their customers and try as much as they can to take care of their employees with reduced prices.

Company culture gets tailored to suit a specific purpose and team, which cannot fit everyone. Some will criticize the culture while others embrace it. For instance, some companies have adopted a closed office layout where they try as much as they can to allocate private offices to as many employees as possible. That is a company culture that works for such a system, while another culture has decided to adopt an open office, which works fine for them. The bottom line is that company cultures are different, and the diversity of these corporate cultures makes all of us unique and special.
