1) Mary Barra – General Motors Company
Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors Company, is the only female CEO to be ranked in the top 100 for most powerful women. At age 30, she was the youngest female engineer at GM and became vice-president in 2003. She is also one of five executive officers named by Fortune magazine as the most powerful woman in business. Furthermore, Barra is the first woman to lead a global automobile manufacturer.
2) Ginni Rometty – IBM Corporation
Ginni Rometty, CEO of IBM Corporation, was also named one of Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business and Forbes’ 100 most powerful women. She is the current Chair, president, and CEO of IBM and is ranked as one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women. Prior to becoming CEO in 2012, Rometty was a senior vice-president and group executive for sales, marketing, and strategy at IBM.
3) Irene Rosenfeld – Mondelez International
Irene Rosenfeld, CEO of Mondelez International, has an extensive background in the food industry. She was previously CEO for Kraft Foods and then became president and COO before taking her position as CEO for this company. Also, Fortune magazine named her one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business and also as one of the wWorld’s100 Most Powerful Women.
4) Marissa Mayer – Yahoo!
Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo! was named No.1 on Fortune’s list of Most Powerful Women in Business and also as one of the wWorld’s100 Most Powerful Women. In the past, she has worked at Google and was a key player in launching their website and toolbar. She was previously ranked as Fortune’s Most Powerful Woman in Technology until Susan Wojcicki replaced her on that list.
5) Debra Cafaro – Ventas
Debra Cafaro is the first female CEO for a US Real Estate Investment Trust, or REIT. She was named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in Business and also as one of the world’s 100 most powerful women. Cafaro also received the Women in Business Award by the American Express OPEN for her excellent job at fueling the company.
