The Mandalorian introduced audiences to several new aspects of the Star Wars universe and even brought back a few of the franchise’s heavy hitters from the films. By far the biggest surprise in the show’s second season was the return of the bounty hunter Boba Fett. A favorite of many Star Wars aficionados, fans were thrilled to learn last year that Fett would be getting his own spinoff series, The Book of Boba Fett. At just two episodes in, the series has already answered many fans’ most burning questions, including how Fett escaped the Sarlacc Pit after the events of Return of the Jedi. In a new series of interviews, Fett’s portrayer, Temuera Morrison, revealed what fans can expect from the remainder of the series.

Morrison Promises Deep Dive into Fett’s Psyche

Speaking with reporters from E! News, Morrison says that The Book of Boba Fett is mainly about taking some of the mystique away from Fett and showing how he operates on a personal level. Giving the example of the first two episodes, Morrison says that the story thus far shows how Fett was shaped by the planet Tatooine and its native inhabitants, the Tusken Raiders. Going forward, Morrison says that the series will delve further into why Fett has the reputation of the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter. Elaborating, Morrison reminds viewers that while Fett was always an object of fear in Star Wars lore, it was never explained why Fett has such a scary reputation.

Morrison adds that part of Fett’s new persona is his partnership with Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand, a gun for hire. Morrison says that Fett feels a kinship with Shand that is rooted in the fact that they both have experienced traumatic events and have been left for dead in the sands of the desert.

Morrison Says Future Episodes Have Major Surprises and Plenty of Action

While The Book of Boba Fett might be an exploration of Fett’s psychology, Morrison says that fans can still expect plenty of action. Speaking with TVLine, Wen adds that her character is given a particularly heavy load of action scenes in the coming episodes. The premiere famously featured Shand going toe-to-toe with several members of the Order of the Night Wind, one of the deadliest groups of assassins in the Star Wars universe.

Trying to keep coy, Morrison further says that new episodes will include several “colorful chaps” from the franchise’s storied history. Morrison’s statement has led many fans to theorize that some of Fett’s fellow bounty hunters, such as Dengar and Bossk, could be showing up in the series. Others are hoping for the return of Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra, a key player in the organized crime behemoth Crimson Dawn.
