In its penultimate episode, The Book of Boba Fett featured the return of Grogu, more widely known on the internet as Baby Yoda, and a host of other Star Wars fan favorites. The episode, entitled “From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” was split into two main storylines. The first half of the episode focused on Grogu’s training with Luke while the second half followed Boba Fett’s war with the Pyke Syndicate on Tatooine. The episode also earned praise from fans for the live action debut of Cad Bane, one of the most notorious bounty hunters and mercenaries from The Clone Wars animated series.

Grogu’s Jedi Training

As previously stated, the first half of the episode followed Grogu’s training with Luke. Starting right where last week’s episode began, the Mandalorian comes to visit Grogu on the unnamed forest world that now houses Skywalker’s Jedi training academy. Intent on giving his former charge a suit of beskar armor, Mando is met by Ahsoka Tano, who cautions him against seeing Grogu. After Ahsoka explains that a visit from his former protector would do more harm than good, Mando departs before being reunited with Grogu.

During his training with Luke, Grogu displays a remarkable affinity for the Force, but is constantly holding back from his full potential. In an attempt to help the young Padawan remember his past, Luke shows Grogu a repressed memory of him looking on as his protectors are gunned down by clone troopers during the Jedi Purge. Acknowledging that Grogu is conflicted, Luke offers the young Jedi a choice. Should Grogu choose the suit of beskar armor, Luke will reunite him with the Mandalorian. Luke also offers Grogu Yoda’s lightsaber, telling him that if he accepts it, he will train him to be a Jedi.

Boba Fett’s War with the Pykes

In a meeting with his senior leaders, Fett learns that he and his top lieutenants, including Mando and the Wookie warrior Krrsantan, are vastly outnumbered by the Pykes, who have brought in an army to help them takeover Tatooine. Needing an army of their own, Mando travels to the community of Mos Pelgo to convince the town and its leader, Marshal Cobb Vanth, to join Fett’s side. Mando warns that while the Pykes have not come to Mos Pelgo yet, that could change if they succeed in taking control of the planet. After Mando leaves, the town is visited Cad Bane, who is acting as an enforcer for the Pykes. Bane warns the citizens of Mos Pelgo not to resist the Pykes before gunning down Vanth and his deputy in the middle of the street.

The final episode of The Book of Boba Fett will be available for streaming on Disney+ next Wednesday.
