Prioritizing our health is important for our existence. We all had high hopes for a cure when Covid-19 was discovered. We are human beings, that is what we do. We hope. However, hope has not been sufficient this time. Life has to go on, with or without the cure. Lockdown and curfews need to be lifted. The economy is staggering. People need to return to work. Children have to go to school.

Environmental adjustments

This may be costly, but it is only in the short term. Besides, you cannot put a price tag on your life. Schools need to use 1 desk per student, distanced at least 1.5 meters apart to reduce the risk of infection. Testing facilities should be installed on the premises. Sanitization stations should be included at every 150-meter interval. Similar adjustments are also vital at workplaces, sports complexes, bus stations, health centers, entertainment premises, and places of work. At home, homeowners should keep sanitizers on sight for their families, visiting friends, and visiting relatives.

Behavioral change

The change in how we relate and conduct our daily activities is crucial at these pandemic times. Emphasis on wearing of masks is important. The masks should also be the recommended ones. Surgical masks are okay, but they are not as effective. If you can afford it, get an FFP-3 mask. It will not only protect you from the virus but from other environmental hazards like bacteria, dust, pollen, aerosols, and smoke as well.

Keep your hygiene standard high. Most importantly, always keep your hands clean. Sanitize regularly when you are not in a position to wash them. Avoid unnecessary physical contact like handshakes and hugging people that you do not share a strong personal relationship. Avoid touching exposed public places like rails and attending crowded activities like unregulated pool parties. Also, wear clean clothes at all times. Take regular showers or baths and make it a habit to drink enough water.

Drug Abuse, Smoking and alcohol addiction

Focus on keeping your immunity at optimum levels. Smoking is detrimental to your lungs. It increases your vulnerability to Covid-19. Quit smoking. It costs you a lot, not just your resistance to Covid-19. If you are a heavy drinker, reduce your alcohol consumption. Alcohol hinders your thinking and may lead you to engage in activities that expose you to the virus. Such activities may include parties and intimate physical engagements with infected persons.

If you are using a hard drug like marijuana, cocaine, or meth, it is time for you to quit. The drugs are very bad for your health and interfere with your thinking. They may just be what you need to expose yourself enough to get coronavirus. The only thing worse than that is dealing with the virus inside prison cells. Hard drugs are illegal and will get you in prison, whether you are infected with Covid-19 or not.

The good news is, Covid-19 vaccines have been developed. Vaccination has started in many parts of the globe. However, its introduction was accompanied by widespread controversies. These are false propaganda and you should get vaccinated at the slightest opportunity. As far as health is concerned, you can never be too careful.
